So, Rocket Can come through with the win in the Holy Bull. He paid $7.20 for the win and $4.20 for the show. Mr. Bob brought up the rear so he didn't help. Shadow Dragon and West Coast Cowboy also finished in the money making for some wicked Trifecta and Superfecta payouts. So, my $8 in wagers produced a net profit of $3.40. A good start!

First up is the Withers at Aqueduct. This race has been run since 1874 and at one time was very prestigious. Past champions include Man O War, Northern Dancer and Ack Ack. The race has slipped quite a bit in stature over the years and is now a Grade 3.

Next is the Sam F Davis at Tampa Bay Downs. Not the biggest name race out there but is is relavent in that it is a KY Derby Points race. Notable participants include Andromeda's Hero, Bluegrass Cat, Any Given Saturday and General Quarters.

Finally, we will see the El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields. This race has been contested since 1982 when it was run on dirt at 1 1/16 mikes at Bay Meadows. Bay Meadows closed in 2008 and the race transitioned to Golden Gate's Synthetic track and was lengthened to 1 1/8 miles. Students of the game will remember names such as Snow Chief, Tanks Prospect, Casual Lies and one of my all time favorites Cavonnier for this race.

Unfortunately my day job has gotten in the way of my horse playing this week. Hopefully I can make and publish some picks later today or early tomorrow.
